G.S Sandhu, Who had strong belief ,dedication and determination to serve the rural population and to do a memorable service to the cause of health care and education, conceived the idea of starting a Nursing School at Dera Bassi for imparting nursing education & providing much needed health care to the people of the area..
At Punjab National Nursing School, we believe that there are some essential qualities which makes a successful and efficient nurse. Punjab National Nursing School endeavor to imbibe and impart these qualities through condensed and rigorous training both in the theoretical and practical fields.
The Punjab National Nursing School currently offers a three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. The course as currently offered, is a formal education preparation. It seeks to prepare you to practice modern nursing and provide a foundation for any further study and any specialized qualification in nursing that you may choose to go in for.

You will undergo a comprehensive training that will meet the most exchange and rigorous of international standards.
At the Punjab National Nursing School, our aim is to bring the best of international standards and modern professional techniques in patient care, to India. Based on the firm belief that Nursing is a vocation and not just a profession, the faculty of nursing believes in a holistic and patient centric approach to Nursing. This is a belief that is a shared by today’s medical professionals and nurses, one that is supported by the theories and practices of modern medicine.
The school; seeks to turn out students with well-rounded personalities. Talents and skills that will enhance their personality and equip them to deal efficiently with the challenges of their chosen profession are encouraged. The hostel and school building have definite provision for outdoor as well as indoor recreational facilities. The students organize social events and various cultural activities. They are encouraged to choose from the wide range of activities offered and participate in activities of their choice.
