Qualities that make a good nurse

At Punjab National Nursing School, we believe that there are some essential qualities which makes a successful and efficient nurse. Punjab National Nursing School endeavor to imbibe and impart these qualities through condensed and rigorous training both in the theoretical and practical fields.

The Course

The Punjab National Nursing School currently offers a three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. The course as currently offered, is a formal education preparation. It seeks to prepare you to practice modern nursing and provide a foundation for any further study and any specialized qualification in nursing that you may choose to go in for.

Eligibility Criteria

As we have clearly enumerated earlier, the principal guiding healthcare at this institute are empathy, care and compassion, naturally, when we evaluate candidates for admission, we will attach great importance to such qualities. Preference will definitely be given to candidates who show the ability to Sympathies with patients and care for them in keeping with our philosophy.

Of course, we will in no way, compromise on the other qualification that a good Nurse must possess, but we would like to make it clear that we are looking for great ability in combination with a sympathetic and caring personality.

We have set up a list of criteria which a candidate must fulfill in order to be eligible for admission. This is to ensure that the candidates finally admitted for the course will meet the high standards of professional competence and conduct that is Nursing School demands.

• Admission is open to candidates from all parts of India.

• Candidates should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent. Preferably with science subjects. Minimum pass marks required for General Category are 40% and for SC it is 35%(only SC is eligible)

• The Candidates should be medically and physically fit.

• The course is only open to female candidates.

• Only female candidates, between ages 17 to 35 years of age are eligible. However, widow & divorcees can also apply subject to fulfillment of above criteria.

The Course

At this school we prepare you to assume responsibilities in the fields of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare. After completing this course, we expect that you will be able to:

• Access health needs and then accordingly design, implement and evaluate nursing care plans for individuals, families and the community at large.

• Develop proficiency, as a member of health teams, in the curative, preventive Rehabilitation of healthcare delivery systems.

• Develop skills in nursing, based on scientific principles laid down by modern Medicine

• Integrate scientific and technological advances in healthcare into daily nursing routine.

• Develop skills in the use of problem-solving methods in nursing practice.

• Develop an interest in undertaking advance studies and acquiring specialization in various streams of nursing.
