At Punjab National Nursing School, we believe that there are some essential qualities which makes a successful and efficient nurse. Punjab National Nursing School endeavor to imbibe and impart these qualities through condensed and rigorous training both in the theoretical and practical fields.
The Punjab National Nursing School currently offers a three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. The course as currently offered, is a formal education preparation. It seeks to prepare you to practice modern nursing and provide a foundation for any further study and any specialized qualification in nursing that you may choose to go in for.

As we have clearly enumerated earlier, the principal guiding healthcare at this institute are empathy, care and compassion, naturally, when we evaluate candidates for admission, we will attach great importance to such qualities. Lt. Col. G.S. Sandhu along with Col. H.S Bhattal and other members, formed a society and decided to set up a Nursing School in the name of Punjab National Nursing School, at Dera Bassi. The society got permission from Punjab Govt. on 21 Dec. 2001 and Punjab Nurse registration Council on 24 Jan. 2002 to start a Nursing School within take of fifty (50) admissions. Subsequently, the Society got approval of the Indian Nursing Council of New Delhi for admission for the 1 st session on 30 May, 03.
The School is affiliated to the National General Hospital (100 bedded), which is located in very close proximity and also attached to Institute of Mental Health Amritsar for providing practical training to the students. The building of the school including hostel presents excellent look with lush green surroundings. The institute is equipped with the latest modern facilities for providing proper care and training to the students. It is managed by highly experienced Management Staff and well qualified Principal & Teaching Staff who have at their disposal the latest equipments & training aids.
The aim of the Management is to develop this school into a modern & unique institute capable of imparting the best nursing education & providing the best possible health care to the people of the region, through Community Health Services.
The Institution is coming up well because of hard work and sincere efforts of the Management, Staff and employes and with the willing cooperation of the students. The people of Dera Bassi and other places have always been very kind in extending a helping hand for building up this institution. Above all, Punjab Govt., Punjab Nurses Registration Council and Indian Nursing Council deserve gratitude of the Management for their guidance and kind cooperation.
