The Punjab National Nursing School currently offers a three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. The course as currently offered, is a formal education preparation. Lt. Col. G.S. Sandhu along with Col. H.S Bhattal and other members, formed a society and decided to set up a Nursing School in the name of Punjab National Nursing School, at Dera Bassi. The society got permission from Punjab Govt. on 21 Dec. 2001 and Punjab Nurse registration Council on 24 Jan. 2002 to start a Nursing School within take of fifty (50) admissions. Subsequently, the Society got approval of the Indian Nursing Council of New Delhi for admission for the 1 st session on 30 May, 03.
The School is affiliated to the National General Hospital (100 bedded), which is located in very close proximity and also attached to Institute of Mental Health Amritsar for providing practical training to the students. The building of the school including hostel presents excellent look with lush green surroundings. The institute is equipped with the latest modern facilities for providing proper care and training to the students. It is managed by highly experienced Management Staff and well qualified Principal & Teaching Staff who have at their disposal the latest equipments & training aids.
The aim of the Management is to develop this school into a modern & unique institute capable of imparting the best nursing education & providing the best possible health care to the people of the region, through Community Health Services.
